CDPAP Program - Answering FAQs From Seniors and Caregivers
When you need assistance to complete routine tasks or manage a health condition, there are options available to assist with payment. Yet, accepting a caregiver into the home is a very personal decision. It's not unusual for a family member to be the first choice. However, such an arrangement can be impossible when personal responsibilities require favorite caregivers to be away at work. For families prepared to care for aging loved ones, it's painful to be unavailable because of the costs. Luckily, there is an option in New York that provides payment for chosen caregivers. CDPAP allows seniors or other eligible individuals to compensate the caregiver of their choice for assistance with daily living activities.
Here, we'll explain exactly what the CDPAP program is as well as answer some of the most common questions raised by seniors and caregivers.
What is CDPAP?
The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) is a Medicaid program that provides services to chronically ill or physically disabled individuals who have a medical need for help with activities of daily living (ADLs) or skilled nursing services. It stands out from typical Medicaid offerings because it allows consumers (patients or seniors) to choose their caregivers. In other words, family members, friends, or loved ones who provide necessary care can receive payment for their services.

After the approval of your application, you'll only need to complete a physical exam as well as complete payroll documents.
How do caregivers receive payment?
Elite Choice processes payroll every Friday. We also offer DailyPay through which you can receive payment for the previous day's care.

As a CDPAP caregiver, you'll also have the opportunity to provide your loved one with the same level of care you always have. The difference is, you'll be compensated for your time and be able to be present during work hours.
